TDP General Secretary Nara Lokesh expressed his gratitude to the central government for pledging full support to complete the Amaravati capital and Polavaram projects by allocating substantial budget of Rs 15,000 crores. This announcement made by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Union Budget 2024 on Tuesday reaffirming the government's commitment to the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act and promised further financial support in the coming years.
TDP General Secretary Nara Lokesh took to X and said, "Thanks to the central government which has announced that it will provide full support for the completion of the projects of Amaravati, the capital of Andhra Pradesh, and Polavaram, Jeevanadi. On behalf of the people of the state, we express our gratitude to the NDA government for committing to the reconstruction of Andhra Pradesh by allocating Rs.15 thousand crores in the budget."
TDP leader Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy said, "We are happy and welcoming the budget announcement by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Jagan Mohan Reddy went to Delhi to damage the state's image, whereas Chandrababu Naidu went to Delhi twice after assuming power to seek financial assistance for the state's welfare and development. Andhra Pradesh is receiving 15,000 crores as a special package for the development of the state."
Earlier, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, "Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act- Our govt has made efforts to fulfil the commitments in Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act. Recognising the state's need for capital, we will facilitate special financial support through multilateral agencies. In the current FY, Rs 15,000 crore will be arranged with additional amounts in future years."
Meanwhile, it can be recalled that TDP is in an alliance with the BJP and Pawan Kalyan's JanaSena in Andhra Pradesh.
