New Delhi: Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress will bring a motion in the Bengal assembly against the action of central investigative agencies, as reported by news agency PTI. On Monday, parliamentary affairs and agriculture minister Sovandeb Chattopadhyay said that this resolution will be brought to the assembly on 19 September. Investigative agencies like CBI, ED, and Income Tax Department are being used by the central government for political gains, he said. He also said that recently it is seen that they have started using the Election Commission against various opposition political parties as well as opposition governments.
He slammed the opposition members in the working committee for their absence from the Monday meeting. "We too had been on the opposition benches for a long time. There had been differences with the then Speaker of the assembly but despite that, we attended the meetings convened by the Speaker. There are some practices in the democratic system which we should not ignore," he said.
Meanwhile, Assembly Speaker Biman Bandopadhyay said that a proposal on the motion has already been submitted to the assembly.

"There will be a discussion in which members of both the treasury benches and the opposition will participate. An atmosphere of tension and fear is being created in the state. The central agencies' officials are reaching the residences of people at odd hours. There will be discussions on this matter," the Speaker said.
In the last few months, top party leaders like Partha Chatterjee, who was a strong leader and minister of Trinamool Congress and Trinamool President of Birbhum district Anubrata Mandal, have been arrested by the central agency CBI and the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Apart from this, the ED had questioned Abhishek Banerjee recently.
