Telangana: Stray Dogs Eat Abandoned Newborn At Warangal Hospital

The police are currently reviewing CCTV footage in an attempt to identify how the newborn ended up in the isolated spot at the state-run hospital in Warangal district, Telangana.

A newborn baby was discovered partially eaten by stray dogs on the premises of a state-run hospital in Warangal district, Telangana, on Friday. The incident came to light after policemen stationed at a hospital outpost noticed the dogs scavenging at a secluded area within the hospital grounds.

According to a police official, it remains unclear whether the newborn was alive when left in the area or if the child had already passed away before being attacked by the dogs. The scene has made it challenging to determine the baby’s gender, as the lower part of the body had been severely mutilated by the animals.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the baby’s presence in the hospital compound, according to a report on PTI. The police are currently reviewing CCTV footage in an attempt to identify how the newborn ended up in such a vulnerable and isolated spot. The possibility that the baby was abandoned by someone at the hospital is also being explored.

Following this, the mutilated remains of the baby were sent to MGM Hospital for a postmortem examination.

Previous, multiple instances of dog menace have been reported in Telangana. This incident comes on the heels of another case in Telangana, where a five-month-old baby boy was mauled to death by a stray dog in Vikarabad district. The boy, identified as Babusai, was reportedly sleeping unattended at home when the attack occurred. His father, Dattu, discovered the horrific scene and, in a fit of grief and anger, killed the dog responsible for the attack. It is reported that the boy’s parents had stepped out for work at the time of the incident.

Last month, an 18-month-old boy was mauled to death by dogs in Jawahar Nagar of Hyderabad.
