Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi held a crucial meeting with Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu in Delhi on Friday. The meeting, according to sources, focused on potential organisational changes within the party's state unit.
Although no official statement was released regarding the discussions, it is believed that the leaders deliberated on selecting a new president for the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC). Revanth Reddy has continued to serve as the president of the Congress in Telangana, even after assuming the role of Chief Minister late last year.
Sources indicate that the announcement of a new state president could be imminent, as the party looks to strengthen its leadership ahead of future political challenges. However, it was also noted that no changes have been made to the Telangana Congress Committee leadership at this time, with the Lok Sabha elections approaching.
In New Delhi, Chief Minister Revanth, accompanied by the Deputy Chief Minister and the Tourism Minister, also met with Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandviya. During the meeting, the Chief Minister proposed that Telangana be considered as a venue for major national and international sports events, including the Olympics, citing the state's strong infrastructure and previous successes in hosting events.
