The Congress appointed B Mahesh Kumar Goud as President of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee with immediate effect. The previous president of the Telangana PCC was Anumula Revanth Reddy. However, his three-year term ended on July 7.

According to ANI, Congress appoints B Mahesh Kumar Goud as President of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee with immediate effect. The appointment was confirmed by KC Venugopal, General Secretary of the AICC.

As Revanth Reddy became the CM of Telangana, he did not have the option of getting another term as the chief of the state unit. As a result, the competition was rife for the next party chief since they also had to fill the shoes of Revanth Reddy.

Telangana CM was instrumental in driving the party to victory in the land which was ruled by BRS for a decade since its formation. In December 2023, the Congress party won the Assembly Elections defeating the BRS and BJP.

Who Is Mahesh Kumar Goud?

Mahesh Kumar Goud was unanimously elected as a member of the Telangana Legislative Council under the MLA quota on January 22, 2024. He served as the Working President of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee from June 28, 2021, to September 6, 2024.

Goud began his political career with the National Students' Union of India (NSUI) and became its State President in the 1990s. He held various roles within the Congress party, including contesting the 1994 Assembly elections as a Congress candidate from the Ditchpally constituency, although he did not win.

Goud also contested the Nizamabad Urban constituency in the 2014 Assembly elections but was unsuccessful. Subsequently, he worked as PCC Secretary, Spokesperson, and PCC General Secretary.
