Tamil Nadu Spiritual Guru Maha Vishnu Arrested Days After Speech On 'Karma' At 2 Chennai Schools

While addressing the students on the theme of self-realization, Mahavishnu delved into topics related to spirituality and Karma, which has since sparked significant controversy.

'Motivational Speaker' and spiritual guru Maha Vishnu was arrested by the police in Chennai after complaints lodged against him at Saidapet and Tiruvottiyur police stations in Chennai. Maha Vishnu was caught in a controversy after he allegedly made derogatory comments about differently-abled people during a speech at a government school.

On Saturday, police who were stationed at Chennai airport arrested Maha Vishnu, who arrived to the city reportedly from Australia, as per a report on ABP Nadu.

Mahavishnu Lectures At 2 Schools: The Controversy

On Teachers' Day, Maha Vishnu addressed at two schools, Government Girls Higher Secondary School in Ashok Nagar and Government School in Saidapet. While addressing the students on the theme of self-realization, he delved into topics related to spirituality, which has since sparked significant controversy.

The controversy began during Maha Vishnu's speech, where he aimed to motivate students by speaking about self-confidence but also introduced contentious ideas about sin, virtue, and reincarnation. 

During his address, Maha Vishnu made the controversial statement, as per India Today: "If God was kind, everyone should be born equal. Why such differences? What you did in your last birth determines this birth."

His remarks were met with strong objections, particularly from Shankar, a teacher with a disability. Despite the objections, Mahavishnu continued his speech in what was described as a threatening tone, further escalating the situation. The staff member at the school protested pointing out that Mahavishnu had been invited to deliver a motivational talk, not a spiritual discourse. 

Following the event, a video of the speech, including the contentious exchange, was later uploaded to Maha Vishnu's YouTube channel.

Soon, the incident drew the attention of Tamil Nadu government following which School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi visited Ashok Nagar School on Friday. The Minister stated that strict measures would be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
