Vijay Speech TVK 1st Year Anniversary: Actor-turned-politician Vijay, leader of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), celebrated his party’s first anniversary with a high-profile public meeting in Mahabalipuram, in the presence of political strategist Prashant Kishor on Wednesday. During the meet, Vijay also positioned TVK as an alternative to both the ruling DMK and BJP in Tamil Nadu ahead of the 2026 elections. Vijay also criticised both parties over the National Education Policy (NEP) and the three-language policy, accusing them of staging political theatrics while secretly negotiating deals.
Amid growing tensions between the DMK and BJP over the National Education Policy (NEP) and the three-language policy, Vijay took a firm stand against both parties.
Addressing the controversy, he said, “A new controversy over the three-language policy is unfolding. The central government has stated that if the three-language policy is not implemented, it will withhold certain education funds from the state government. Providing these funds is their duty, while receiving them is your (state government's) right.”
'Fascism Vs Payasam': Vijay On BJP-DMK Feud Over 3-Language Policy
Without directly naming the BJP or DMK, Vijay referred to them as "fascism" and "payasam", implying that their confrontations were mere theatrics. He accused both parties of striking secret deals while misleading the public with social media campaigns.
“Both sides seem to be negotiating behind closed doors, making adjustments, and then playing around on social media with hashtags. It appears they are only pretending to fight each other. What bro... It’s very wrong bro.”
Earlier, Vijay highlighted #GetOutStalin and #GetOutModi trends pushed by BJP and DMK supporters respectively. However, he also countered it with his own #GetOut campaign by calling for the ousting of both parties from Tamil Nadu politics.
Vijay reaffirmed his party’s respect for all languages but strongly opposed any imposition of Hindi or interference in Tamil Nadu’s education system.
“We respect all languages, no doubt about it. On an individual level, anyone can study in any school and learn any language of their choice. However, going against the quasi-federal nature, curbing the state's rights, and imposing another language for political reasons... How is it right?”
Rejecting "false propaganda", Vijay made it clear that TVK would firmly oppose the policy.
