Rajasthan Chief Minister on Tuesday said that smartphones have been given to around 40 lakh girls in the state with an objective of women empowerment and reducing the digital divide. He further said that in the next phase of this scheme, about 1 crore more women will be given smartphones. Gehlot unfurled the national flag at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur. The Rajasthan CM made several announcements on the occasion of Independence Day, which comes ahead of the slated assembly elections in the state later this year.






"With the objective of women empowerment and reducing the digital divide in the state, smartphones are being given to 40 lakh girls and women in the first phase under the Indira Gandhi Smartphone Yojana. There is great enthusiasm among women regarding this scheme. According to the budget announcement in the next phase of this scheme, about 1 crore more women will be given smartphones. For whose guarantee, from August 20, guarantee cards will be given, showing which they will be able to get their smartphone free of cost in the next phase," Gehlot said in a tweet.

  • Fifty-three dams in Dausa, Sawai Madhopur, Karauli, Bharatpur, and Alwar districts will be filled by connecting them with the ERCP. This will increase the project cost of ERCP by Rs 1665 crore and benefit 11 lakh farmers in 13 assembly constituencies.

  • Along with the families that come under the National Food Security Scheme (NFSA), the non-NFSA families who were given financial assistance during Covid-19 will also be provided free ration kits under the Annapurna Ration Kit scheme starting today.

  • The current Chiranjeevi Jeevan Rakshak Yojana has managed to save hundreds of lives. Now the honorarium given under the scheme will be increased to Rs 10,000 from Rs 5, 000, and such a scheme will also be introduced for those who help the police in a case.

  • The Rajasthan CM also stated that the Ramgarh Dam in the state will be filled with water from the Isarda Dam under the East Rajasthan Canal project.

  • Gehlot also said that promotion from the post of constable to police inspector will also be done through a time-bound DPC. Giving special medals to all policemen on the completion of 75 years of the formation of the Rajasthan Police was also one of the announcements made by him.
