Sri Ram Sena state President Siddalinga Swamiji has openly challenged Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge regarding a notice issued to him by Kalaburagi City Corporation for alleged violations of building permit rules. The notice, which questioned the construction of a three-floor building for Swamiji's religious mutt, stated that permission had only been granted for two floors.
In response to the notice, Swamiji demanded that Minister Kharge ensure similar action is taken against all individuals in Kalaburagi city who have violated building norms. The Swamiji highlighted that many other structures in the city, including those belonging to influential individuals, have also flouted regulations.
"If my construction has violated norms, what about the numerous other buildings in Kalaburagi that have not adhered to the rules? Have all of them followed the proper procedures?" Swamiji questioned, according to a report on IANS.
Swamiji specifically alleged that Kalaburagi city’s Congress MLA Allamaprabhu Patil has also violated building regulations while constructing his residence. He challenged Minister Kharge to take action against Patil's property first if he is truly concerned about upholding the law, as per the report.
Minister Priyank Kharge, who also holds the portfolio for Rural Development, Panchayat Raj, and IT, and is the in-charge Minister for Kalaburagi district, defended the issuance of the notice. He remarked, "We have issued a notice to him; what's wrong with that?"
The situation has put pressure on the local administration to address widespread concerns about compliance with urban development norms.
Kalaburagi is the native of Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge. Even earlier, Siddalinga Swamy and Minister Priyank had a face-off over other matters.
Earlier, Siddalinga Swami held Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Priyank Kharge responsible for the alleged deterioration of law and order situation in the state.
