VIP Treatment Row: Satyendar Jain Seeks Court Direction Restraining Media From Airing CCTV Clips On Him

The video comes at a time when Jain had claimed that he was not getting privileges like proper food and medical check-ups in Tihar jail.

New Delhi: After new footage of jailed AAP minister Satyendar Jain has come to the fore where he can be seen getting proper meals inside the Tihar Jail, the minister on Wednesday moved an application in Delhi Court seeking direction to restrain media to air/broadcasting any clip of CCTV related to him, reported news agency ANI. Special judge Vikas Dhull said will take up the matter on Thursday.

The court also sought a detailed report from the Tihar prison authorities about Jain's food and dietary changes whenever made. The court also granted time till Monday to Tihar authorities to submit a comprehensive report on Jain's medical report.

Reacting to Jain's application, BJP IT-cell head Amit Malviya the move “won’t help”.

"Jailed AAP minister Satyendra Jain’s legal team moving Court to restrain CCTV footages form coming out, means the following: 1. They are trying to hide truth from coming out in public domain. 2. They lied in Court about the massage, home food and other privileges Won’t help…" Malviya tweeted.

The video comes at a time when Jain had claimed that he was not getting privileges like proper food and medical check-ups in Tihar jail. 

His counselor, Senior Advocate Rahul Mehra also alleged that the Enforcement Directorate was leaking sensitive information to the media despite the order of the trial court and undertaking given in the court. 

"I am defamed every single minute by their act," Jain said. 

Mehra also rejected the allegation by the ED that Jain is receiving privileged treatment inside Tihar Jail. "What privilege are they talking about," he asked. 

"I have lost 28 kg in jail. Is this what a privileged person in jail gets? I'm not even getting proper food. What privilege are they talking about? No prison rules are violated if an undertrial is pressing his hand or feet," said Satyendar Jain.

A day earlier, another CCTV footage of Jain had surfaced where he was seen getting massaged by an inmate, a rape convict.
