Rajasthan Police Seizes Rs 2.3 Cr Unclaimed Cash, Gold Bars From Jaipur, Min Says 'Action Will Be Taken'

Rajasthan minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas said that no person involved will be spared in connection with the case where police found unclaimed cash, gold bars in a Jaipur government building.

Day after Rajasthan police seized unclaimed cash from a government building in Jaipur, state minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas on Saturday said that action will be taken against officials who are involved in this, and no one will be spared, reported ANI. The state police on Friday seized unclaimed cash worth crores and gold bars from a government building in Jaipur. 

Speaking to the media in Jaipur over the incident, Khachariyawas said, "Action will be taken against those officials who were involved. Rajasthan Police has seized the cash and will not spare anyone. If anyone is found doing wrong, whether, in the Centre or Rajasthan government, they will face the consequences". 

Police had seized over Rs 2.31 crores in cash and 1 kg of gold biscuits from a basement of the government office in Jaipur and subsequently had detained eight people for questioning, a senior official said, as quoted by ANI. 

"More than Rs 2.31 crores cash and about 1 kg of gold biscuits have been found in a bag kept in a cupboard at the basement of the Yojana Bhawan, a Government Office in Jaipur," Anand Kumar Srivastava, Police Commissioner, Jaipur said on Friday, reported ANI. 

He added, "Under 102 CrPC, police have seized these notes and a team has been found to investigate this matter." 

"Around 7-8 people from the department have been detained for questioning," he further said.

Srivastava added that CCTV footage will be analyzed to get any clue in this case, adding that a detailed investigation has been initiated. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has also been informed regarding the same, he said. 

Earlier this month, the Special Cell of Delhi Police arrested six people, including a woman, in two different operations on May 6 and recovered drugs worth over Rs 85 crore in the international market. The police also seized a total of 101.62 kg of opium and 2 kg of heroin along with Rs 7.5 lakh hawala money in the exercise, reported news agency PTI. The first such operation was conducted on April 23, in which the police got a tip-off that accused Lakhpat and Suresh would go to Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar around 10 am in their truck to supply opium to one of the contacts of Chand, a senior police officer said.
