A 30-year-old man allegedly killed his bed-ridden father after an argument in Rajasthan's Kota and sat next to his body for hours until his mother came home.


The police on Monday said that the accused Mahaveer Meghwal is a allegedly a drug addict and mentally unstable. He has been arrested following the incident, a report in PTI said. 


The incident was reported under the Railway Colony police station limits in Kota on Sunday morning. However, the matter came to light only in the evening when the victim's wife returned home and found her son sitting beside the body of her husband, police reportedly said.


The accused allegedly attacked his father with the handle of an axe during an argument on Sunday morning, killing him on the spot.


Upon receiving the information, the police recovered the body and handed it over to the man's family members after post mortem on Monday.


The deceased has been identified as 60-year-old Dayaram Meghwal, who had been ill and bed-ridden for a long time.


The accused kept sitting beside the body till his mother, a daily wage labourer, arrived in the evening, said Pankaj Yadav, Circle Officer, Railway Colony said. Yadav said that the accused kept changing his statements during interrogation.


The police have arrested Mahaveer under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code and further probe is on, he added. 


16-year-old boy Killed In Mumbai


The Mumbai police on Monday arrested a man for allegedly attacking and killing a 16-year-old boy in a dispute about a girl, police said.


The police apprehended the accused, 19-year-old Rushikesh Gurav, from Diva in neighbouring Thane district for the attack that took place on Sunday night.


The victim had warned Gurav against meeting a girl from his locality in the eastern suburb of Ghatkopar, however, when Gurav reached the locality to meet the girl, the victim confronted him but was attacked with a sharp weapon.
