Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Flags Off First Batch Of 72 Primary Teachers For Finland Training Initiative

Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann has flagged off a teacher training initiative in Finland for 72 primary teachers, aiming to improve the state's education system by introducing new pedagogical techniques.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has announced a significant initiative aimed at improving the state's education system by investing in teachers, schools, and students. During a recent event, he flagged off the first batch of 72 primary teachers who will undergo professional training in Finland, a country renowned for its effective education model.

Mann called upon teachers to take pride in being part of this initiative, stating, “This is not merely a journey to a new country but an opportunity to explore new pedagogical techniques, best practices, and innovative methods in education.” He emphasised the critical role of education as the foundation of society and reiterated the state government's commitment to ensuring that all children have access to high-quality learning opportunities.

The Chief Minister noted that Finland was chosen for this training programme due to its well-established education system, which prioritises teacher autonomy, equality, and student-centred learning. He stated, “The Finnish model of education emphasises not just academic learning but also the overall emotional, social, and physical well-being of students.” Mann expressed hope that the insights gained from this training would foster improvements in Punjab’s educational framework.

He urged the participating teachers to serve as ambassadors of change upon their return, encouraging them to disseminate their acquired knowledge and skills within their local educational communities. Mann stated that the Punjab government is committed to supporting these educators in implementing their learning and creating a culture of continuous improvement in schools.

Punjab Govt CM Mann Highlights Schools Of Eminence, Environmental Focus

CM Bhagwant Mann also addressed broader educational reforms, indicating that the state is working towards revitalising both the health and education systems. He said that Schools of Eminence have been set up across the state to impart quality education to the students adding that in a similar manner the government health system is also being upgraded.

During a media interaction, the Punjab Chief Minister contrasted the AAP's focus on education in the states it governs with the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) governance across 18 states, asserting that the latter lacks a similar commitment to educational development. He introduced the concept of mega parent-teacher meetings (PTMs) in government schools to evaluate student progress and improve accountability within the education system.

In addition to educational reforms, Mann highlighted environmental concerns, criticising previous administrations for neglecting critical issues related to water, air, and land quality. He affirmed that under the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, significant steps have been taken to address environmental degradation and improve the canal system.

Furthermore, the Punjab Chief Minister reported on the achievements of the Sadak Surakhiya Force (SSF), which has reportedly reduced road fatalities by over 45% since its inception. He indicated that the SSF has provided first aid to over 15,000 individuals in the past eight months, enhancing public safety on the roads.

Mann also addressed agricultural challenges, noting an increase in canal water usage for irrigation from 21% to 84% during his tenure. He called on the Union government to compensate farmers to mitigate paddy burning, underscoring the need for intervention on this pressing issue.

Furthermore, the Punjab Chief Minister acknowledged the significant diaspora of Punjabis, particularly in Canada, and urged the Union government to foster positive international relations for the benefit of the state's economy.

The event was attended by Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains and Secretary of Education KK Yadav among various dignitaries.
