Pro-Khalistan slogans were found scrawled on walls near Mata Chintpurni Temple in Himachal Pradesh's Una district on Wednesday, as reported by news agency PTI. The police said that a probe has been initiated into the matter. Also, a video of Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, the chief of the banned outfit Sikhs For Justice, surfaced on the Internet in which he was showing the graffiti on the walls and saying that Congress leaders allegedly involved in the 1984 Sikh riots would not be spared.
Speaking to PTI, the Superintendent of Police of Una Arjit Sen Thakur said that investigations are underway and the miscreants would be nabbed soon. He further stated that the police are also analysing the video clip. This is not the first such incident that has been witnessed in the state. On May 7 last year, pro-Khalistan banners and graffiti were hoisted on the outer boundary of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly in Dharamshala.
According to PTI, a case under sections 153-A and 153-B of the IPC and section 3 of the HP Open Places (Prevention of Disfigurement) Act, 1985, has been registered in the matter. Pannun was named as a co-accused and main conspirator in this case. Based on the video clip, he was booked under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).
In August , Delhi Police Special Cell arrested one accused from Punjab and detained another after pro-Khalistani slogans were seen written on some of the metro stations in Delhi. The accused are being interrogated. More than five metro stations in the national capital were defaced with anti-India slogans, believed to have been done by the pro-Khalistan proscribed outfit, Sikhs For Justice (SFJ). Earlier on Sunday, the police said that legal action will be taken against the act.
An FIR was registered in connection with the matter under Section 153 A, Section 505, and Defacement Act, said Deputy Commissioner of Police Metro, Ram Gopal Naik.
