A team from the National Commission for Women (NCW) arrived in Rajasthan's Pratapgarh district on Monday to investigate the case of a tribal woman who was paraded naked by her husband and others. The team, consisting of NCW member Delina Khongdup and counsellor Shalini Singh, met with administrative and police officers to gather updates about the case, news agency PTI reported. They also commended the prompt action taken by the police in nabbing 11 accused, including the woman's husband, involved in the incident.


"Thanks to the police, the victim is now fearless and wants to live with her parents. We are investigating... whatever the facts are, we will also send them to the Ministry of Women and Child Development," Khongdup informed reporters, as quoted by PTI.


The case gained widespread attention after a video of the woman being paraded naked in a village under the Dhariyawad police station area went viral. The NCW took suo moto cognizance of the matter, leading to their involvement in the investigation.

Earlier, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot met with the victim and her family in Dhariyawad, Pratapgarh. He announced that a special investigation team (SIT) had been formed to probe the incident. Additionally, the woman has been offered a government job, and the government offered financial assistance of Rs. 10 lakhs to support her and her family.


"In this case, an SIT has been formed. 11 people have been arrested. I spoke to the victim's family and assured them that the government stands with you, and justice will prevail... I have offered her a government job so that she can support her family, which includes three sisters and a young brother. Her father does labour work, and it is a very poor family. ... And we will create a fixed deposit of Rs. 10 lakhs for the woman," stated the Rajasthan Chief Minister after the meeting that took place on September 2.


"She is pregnant... I have told her to remain strong and take care of herself and her family," he added.


According to the police, the victim filed a complaint against her husband, Kanha Gameti, along with Suraj, Beniya, Netiya, Nathu, and Mahendra, accusing them of forcibly taking her on a motorcycle and parading her naked.


Initial investigations have revealed that the woman was in a relationship with another man, as per Dhariyawad SHO Peshawar Khan. The police further disclosed that the woman's in-laws kidnapped her and transported her to their village, where the incident occurred last Thursday. The in-laws were reportedly upset as she was staying with another man.
