After a shocking incident where a human finger was allegedly found in one of its ice cream cones, Walko Food Co Ltd announced on Thursday that it has stopped outsourcing the manufacturing of its Yummo brand ice creams and is withdrawing stocks from all stores, news agency PTI reported.

"We are taking this incident very seriously. We have stopped manufacturing (the ice cream) at this third-party facility. We have isolated the said product at the facility and our warehouses and are in the process of doing the same at the market level," a company spokesperson said in a statement, as reported by PTI.

"We are a law-abiding company and shall fully cooperate and support the authorities in investigating the matter thoroughly," the spokesperson stated.

Mumbai Man Finds Human Finger In Ice-Cream

The Incident came to light when Dr Brendan Serrao of Malad West logged a complaint on Wednesday, reporting that a "foreign object" was found in one of the Yummo ice cream products he had ordered via a delivery service. The object was later identified as a small piece of a severed human finger.

Dr Serrao described the horrifying experience to the local media, as per PTI report. He had asked his sister to add some Yummo ice cream cones to her online grocery order. Upon receiving and starting to eat the ice cream, he felt something rough and strange in his mouth. To his shock, he discovered a piece of a human finger, approximately 2 cm long.

Soon after the incident, Serrao immediately reported the incident to the Malad Police Station. The police have since initiated an investigation and sent the finger for forensic analysis.

The Food & Drugs Authority (FDA) had taken note of the incident and might intervene, news agency PTI reported citing official sources familiar with the matter.
