Schools Closed Throughout The City
In several areas of Pune, including Sinhagad Road, there has been severe flooding, with water levels rising to two or three feet. In an effort to assist locals who are stuck because of the rising waters, rescue teams have been dispatched. Due to the widespread flooding, school holidays have been declared throughout the city.
Khadakwasla, Tansa's Dam Shutters Opened
Water discharge into the Mutha River basin has increased dramatically as a result of the Khadakwasla Dam authorities' actions. The discharge rate was increased today at 2:00 PM from 27,203 cusecs to 40,000 cusecs. Two gates of the Tansa Dam, which supplies water to Mumbai, were opened on Wednesday night as a result of the intense rains. It has been advised to the locals near Tansa Dam to exercise caution. Tansa Dam can hold 14,508 crore liters at its maximum capacity.

Major Power Cut In Multiple Areas
Due to the heavy rains, the entire Pune district has flooded, causing trees to fall and water to flow into homes. In addition to these difficulties, since last night, several parts of Pimpri-Chinchwad have experienced power outages. Fifteen transformers in the Pimpri-Chinchwad area have reportedly been turned off.
There are power outages in a number of places, including Pimpri, Chinchwad, Sangvi, Pimple Saudagar, Wakad, Hinjawadi, and Ravet, especially in areas close to rivers or with poor drainage. To be safe, the supply of electricity to areas along rivers has been cut off. Two societies in Hinjawadi and Wakad have lost power because water has gotten up to their electricity meters.
Fire Brigade Rescues 160 People
The Fire Brigade saved or evacuated about 160 people who were trapped in homes and buildings on slopes and low-lying areas during the flooding rain. At the moment, the fire department has over 200 personnel assigned to different areas of the city. Two NDRF teams have been sent to Ekta Nagari, near Pune's Sinhagad Road, where many people are trapped in their homes due to flooding. Teams have been sent out from the 5th Battalion NDRF headquarters in Talegaon in response to an administrative request. A third NDRF team has been called up to be stationed in Pune's Warje neighborhood.
The only bridge across the Pavana River near Birla Hospital has been completely closed to traffic due to water overflowing it following the abrupt rise in the river's level in Pimpri-Chinchwad city. The Pimpri-Chinchwad Traffic Police Department has advised the locals to take an alternate route to Dange Chowk until the water level on the bridge near Birla Hospital decreases. Additionally, the residents residing along the river have been instructed to exercise caution by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation.
