A sessions court has granted interim protection from arrest to Dilip Khedkar, father of controversial probationary IAS officer Puja Khedkar, until July 25 in a case where he is accused of threatening a person with a gun over a land dispute. The Pune Rural police arrested his wife and Puja's mother, Manorama Khedkar, on Thursday in the same case. She has been remanded to police custody until July 20.


Dilip Khedkar filed for anticipatory bail. Judge A N Mare granted him "ad-interim protection from arrest" until the next hearing on July 25, according to his lawyer, news agency PTI reported. If the police apprehend him before then, he will have to be released on bail.

A case has been registered against Dilip and Manorama Khedkar at Paud police station besides five others under Indian Penal Code sections 307 (attempt to murder), 144 (unlawful assembly armed with a deadly weapon), 147 (rioting), and 506 (criminal intimidation) and also under the Arms Act.


The FIR was registered after a viral video showed Manorama allegedly threatening people with a gun at Dhadwali village in Pune's Mulshi tehsil in 2023.


UPSC To Debar Puja Khedkar From Future Exams






A criminal case was filed against controversial probationary IAS officer Puja Khedkar on Friday for "misrepresenting and falsifying facts" after a "thorough investigation" by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) into allegations of misconduct.


She is accused of manipulating her identity to exceed the allowable number of attempts for the civil services examination, according to a statement from the Commission.






The UPSC has also issued a show cause notice concerning the cancellation of her candidature for the 2022 examination and is considering barring her from future exams, the statement added.


Following this, the UPSC lodged a complaint with the Delhi Police. A complaint was received from the UPSC, leading to the registration of a case under relevant legal sections. The investigation is now being conducted by the crime branch, police said, PTI reported.
