Ajit Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party on Sunday released the third list of candidates for the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections. 


The party announced candidates for four seats giving tickets to Vijaysingh Pandit from Georai assembly constituency (Beed), Sachin Sudhakar Patil from Phaltan (Satara), Dilipkaka Bankar from Niphad (Nashik), and Kashinath Date from Parner (Ahmednagar). 


Elections to the 288-member Maharashtra Legislative Assembly will be held in a single phase on November 20 and the votes will be counted on November 23 along with elections in Jharkhand.

On Friday, the party released its second list of candidates comprising seven names including MLA Zeeshan Siddique and two former BJP MPs. 


Zeeshan, whose father and NCP leader Baba Siddique was shot dead earlier this month, will contest from Bandra East, which he was representing currently as a member of the Congress party. He joined the NCP on Friday where his candidature by the party was announced. 


The former youth Congress leader was suspended from the grand old party for cross-voting in the recently held elections to the state legislative council. Earlier this year, his father who was a Congress veteran crossed over to the NCP, a constituent of the ruling Mahayuti alliance in the state.

Former BJP MP Pratap Chikhalikar, who unsuccessfully contested the Lok Sabha elections this year, has been given a ticket from the Loha seat. 


BJP ex-MP Sanjay Kaka Patil, who also had an unsuccessful run in the general elections, was nominated from the Tasgaon-Kavathe Mahankal constituency in Sangli district. He will take on NCP(SP) candidate Rohit Patil. 


The first list of candidates released by the party comprised 38 names including Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and NCP chief Ajit Pawar who will be contesting from Baramati.
