Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha Election Results 2024 Live Updates: The Mahayuti alliance, led by the ruling BJP, and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) engaged in a high-stakes contest during Maharashtra's single-phase assembly elections on Wednesday, November 20. The fate of 288 assembly seats will be decided by the state, which is the second-largest in terms of Lok Sabha representation and the third-largest in terms of Vidhan Sabha strength in India today, November 23, 2024. While the MVA unites the Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and the NCP (Sharad Pawar Group), the Mahayuti alliance consists of the BJP, Shiv Sena, and the NCP (Ajit Pawar Group).

As voters cast ballots, Maharashtra's political future is in jeopardy due to the bitter struggle for power between prominent leaders like Sharad Pawar, Eknath Shinde, Uddhav Thackeray, and Ajit Pawar. The outcome of this significant election could determine the future of these influential leaders and alter the political climate of the state.
The opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA)-Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and the NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) and the Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led Mahayuti alliance-BJP, Shiv Sena, and the NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) are the main contenders in the 288-seat Maharashtra assembly election. The Mahayuti alliance, which wants to hold onto power, is expected to defeat the MVA by a significant margin, according to the majority of exit polls. This is the first assembly election since the NCP and Shiv Sena divided into opposing groups under the leadership of Ajit Pawar and Eknath Shinde.
Out of the 288 seats, 25 are for Scheduled Tribes (ST), 29 are for Scheduled Castes (SC), and 234 are for the general category. The state chief electoral office reports that 4,140 candidates are currently contesting after 2,938 withdrawals from 7,078 legitimate nominations.

After five rounds of counting, Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate Aaditya Thackeray is ahead by 4662 votes in Worli, while Shiv Sena candidate Milind Deora, who was ahead earlier, is now behind.

In the Mankhurd Shivaji Nagar election, incumbent MLA and Samajwadi Party leader Abu Asim Azmi, Nawab Malik of the Nationalist Congress Party, led by Ajit Pawar, and Suresh Patil of the Shiv Sena, led by Eknath Shinde, were perceived as the three main contenders. A fourth factor entered the election contest in this Muslim majority assembly segment with the entry of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen. Samajwadi Party candidate Abu Asim Azmi is leading with more than 5,700 votes, putting him in a strong position to win Mankhurd Shivaji Nagar, a crucial constituency in Mumbai. He has 33,198 votes overall as of the sixth counting round. Ateeque Ahmad Khan of the All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen, with 27,498 votes, is in second place behind Azmi.

According to recent trends, Ajit Pawar is poised to defeat his nephew Yugendra Yadav in the well-known family feud in Baramati, with the deputy chief minister leading by more than 28,000 votes.
