A fire engulfed a cotton warehouse in the Bhiwandi area on Tuesday claiming the lives of two individuals, the Thane Municipal Corporation informed, as reported by news agency ANI. The fire incident occurred in Ovali, near Bhiwandi, where a woman and a young boy were believed to be trapped inside the cotton godown when the blaze erupted. The fire started around 8 pm inside the Parasnath compound, as confirmed by Yasin Tadvi, the head of the disaster management cell at the Thane Municipal Corporation, news agency PTI.



Upon receiving the alarm, two fire engines were swiftly dispatched to the scene to tackle the blaze. The operation to douse the fire was in progress, with authorities working to bring the situation under control. 


Fire Incidents In Arunachal Pradesh, Bengal's Siliguri


In a separate incident, a fire broke out in West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday morning, leaving two houses completely reduced to ashes and partially damaging two others. A sports utility vehicle (SUV) parked near the ICICI Bank at Bomdila Township, the district headquarters, was also engulfed by the flames, PTI reported. While the blaze is believed to have been sparked by a short circuit, there were no reports of human casualties. District authorities, led by Deputy Commissioner Akriti Sagar and District Disaster Management Officer Arvind Pangeng, swiftly responded to the situation and provided immediate relief to the affected families.


Another fire incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday in Siliguri, northern West Bengal. The fire broke out in an ATM located in Shib Mandir, Matigara police station area, as thieves attempted to break open the machine using a gas cutter, according to PTI. At around 2.30 am, a gang of robbers entered the nationalised bank's ATM, lowered the shutter, and initiated the robbery attempt. However, their actions inadvertently ignited the ATM, leading to a fire.


A police patrol van on its rounds in the area arrived at the scene. A scuffle ensued between the robbers and the on-duty police personnel amidst the ATM engulfed in flames. The robbers managed to escape while fire services personnel later brought the blaze under control. The ATM sustained significant damage, and authorities are assessing the extent of cash loss, PTI reported.
