Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday (January 22) held an early morning discussion with the Police Commissioner, instructing immediate action following the recent violence in Naya Nagar, Mira Road. In response, 13 people have been apprehended, and additional suspects are being identified through CCTV footage, as confirmed by Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis in an X post.

Thane Police Commissioner Shrikant Pathak told ANI, "We are investigating the incident, and action will be taken against the accused only. I appeal to everybody to maintain peace, and the police have taken timely action."

Earlier, the police had taken five people into custody and filed a case following a disturbance on Sunday night between two communities leading up to the Ayodhya Ram Temple's inauguration. Promptly responding to the incident report, the police reached the location, effectively bringing the situation under control.

DCP Jayant Bajbale told ANI, "At around 11 pm yesterday, members of the Hindu community were raising slogans in 3-4 vehicles in the Naya Nagar area of Mira Road near Mumbai. An argument ensued with individuals from the Muslim community. Police immediately arrived, took several individuals into custody, and conducted a flag march. Naya Nagar Police has registered a case, arrested five people, and initiated an investigation."

According to a PTI report, the incident unfolded at approximately 10:30 pm on Sunday when a group of 10 to 12 people in three cars and on as many motorcycles conducted a rally from Naya Nagar. They chanted slogans in praise of Lord Ram ahead of the Ram temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya. Allegedly, slogans and firecrackers triggered a confrontation with locals brandishing wooden sticks, resulting in an altercation and damage to vehicles.

The police swiftly intervened, dispersing the crowd and maintaining a heavy presence to prevent further escalation. Meanwhile, the consecration ceremony for Ram Lalla at the newly constructed Ayodhya temple concluded today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi graced the event, addressing a gathering that included political leaders, spiritual figures, Bollywood personalities, and sports figures.
