New Delhi: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, along with MLAs from his Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) faction, on Monday met the party's president Sharad Pawar for the second consecutive day in Mumbai's YB Chavan Centre.

Speaking to reporters, Praful Patel said, "Today, Ajit Pawar, Sunil Tatkare and I met Sharad Pawar at YB Chavan Centre. We again requested him to keep NCP united, and he listened to us but did not say anything on it."

Earlier on Sunday, Ajit Pawar along with some ministers from his faction, had met Sharad Pawar which resulted in discomfort among his supporter MLAs. Hence, on Monday, Ajit Pawar and Praful Patel reached Y. B. Chavan center to meet Sharad Pawar for the second time with all the MLAs.

It is to be noted that the Sunday meeting was the first meeting between Sharad Pawar and the Ajit Pawar-led NCP faction after he rebelled against his uncle and joined the Eknath Shinde government on July 2.

After the meeting on Sunday, Patel said Pawar heard the leaders but did not react, adding that they requested Sharad Pawar to think in the direction of a united NCP.

"We all came here to seek the blessings of respected Sharad Pawar today. We requested Pawar Sahib that NCP should stay united. On this, Sharad Pawar did not give any reaction," he had told reporters.

According to a PTI report, Ajit Pawar went to meet Sharad Pawar with other NCP ministers including Hasan Mushrif, Chhagan Bhujbal, Aditi Tatkare and Dilip Walse Patil.

Just three days back, Ajit Pawar arrived at the Silver Oak residence of the NCP chief in Mumbai following the discharge of senior Pawar's wife from the hospital post-surgery.

It is said that the junior Pawar is close to his aunt. In 2019, when he joined hands with Devendra Fadnavis for a short term as Deputy Chief Minister, it was his aunty only who played a significant role in bringing him back to the NCP side, as per a PTI report.
