The former mayor of Malegaon, Maharashtra, Abdul Malik Mohammed Yunus Isa, was shot by miscreants on Monday. Malik, a prominent leader of Asaduddin Owaisi's All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) party, was struck by three bullets, including one in the left side of his chest. He was immediately rushed to a local hospital.


The attack occurred at 1:20 AM while Malik was seated outside a shop on Old Agra Road. At the time of the incident, two bike-borne assailants shot Abdul Malik thrice and immediately fled the spot. 


On learning about the alleged attack, AIMIM leaders condemned the attack and demanded the arrest of the "murderers". 


Taking to X, AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi said, "AIMIM Malegaon president & former mayor Abdul Malik was shot thrice last night. He has been taken to Nashik for treatment. I spoke to his brother Dr. Khalid on phone. We stand firmly with Abdul Malik’s family. @mieknathshinde @DGPMaharashtra must take immediate steps. This is a conspiracy and the murderers should be arrested as soon as possible."

AIMIM Maharashtra President Imtiaz Jaleel also condemned the attack. He said, "@aimim_national strongly condemns the attack on our Malegaon party leader and former mayor Abdul Malik. He sustained three bullet injuries and his undergoing treatment in a hospital in Nashik. Spoke to the Malegaon addl SP Aniket Bharti and demanded immediate arrest of the accused. Wish Abdul Malik speedy recovery. @asadowaisi."
