Two girls studying in Class 10 became victims of a mishap on Thursday as they were hit by a train that was being operated as part of tests on a newly laid track in Indore in Madhya Pradesh. The deceased were identified as Babli Masare and Radhika Bhaskar, both 17 years old. The unfortunate incident prompted Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to order an inquiry into the matter, said an official while talking to news agency PTI. 


According to an official release, the newly constructed track was being tested by running a train on it in the Kailod Hala area. The release read, "The girls were run over while crossing the tracks on their way home after tuition. This was the first time a train had passed on the route. Later, MP minister and local MLA Tulsiram Silawat informed Vaishnaw about the accident, following which the latter directed the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Ratlam to conduct an inquiry."


Divisional Railway Manager, Rajnish Kumar, told PTI that a detailed inquiry into the matter will be conducted by the Railway Protection Force (RPF). Kumar added, "After the doubling of tracks, people were being warned through different means for the last two days about the train trial on this route. They were told they should not come onto the tracks in an unauthorized manner," as reported by PTI.


Earlier in October, three hearing and speech-impaired children died after a train ran over them while they were trying to cross the railway tracks at Urapakkam railway station in Tamil Nadu's Chengalpattu. The deceased were identified as Suresh (15 years old), Ravi (10 years old) and Manjunath (11 years old).


A police officer said, "Of the three, the two brothers were deaf and dumb while the third one could not speak."


All three children were in Urapakkam to spend the weekend with their cousins. 


As per the officials, the children were playing near the tracks and when they tried to cross it then a train hit them. All three had a spot-death, as reported by India Today.
