Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday expressed grief after atleast least 14 people were killed and 21 others were injured in Madhya Pradesh's Dindori district when a pickup truck overturned after the driver lost control earlier in the day. 


Praying strength for the family of the deceased, the Prime Minister's Office in an X post said: "The road accident that happened in Dindori, Madhya Pradesh is very sad. My condolences are with the bereaved family. May God give them strength in this difficult time. Along with this, I wish speedy recovery of all the injured people. Under the supervision of the state government, the local administration is engaged in providing all possible assistance to the victims". 






Dindori Collector, Vikas Mishra said, "14 people died and 20 injured after a pick-up vehicle lost control and overturned at Badjhar ghat in Dindori. Injured are undergoing treatment at Shahpura Community Health Centre". 






CM Yadav Announces Ex-Gratia: 


After the incident, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced ex-gratia of Rs 4 Lakhs for the kin of the deceased. In a Hindi X post, the CM's office said: "Financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh each will be provided to the families of those injured in the incident. Instructions have been given to the district administration for proper treatment of the injured."


The CM also directed the local administration to provide medical treatment to the injured. His office further informed that the state cabinet minister Sampatiya Uikey was reaching the accident site. 






Citing officials India Today reported that the incident occurred while the affected people were returning from a 'godh bharai' ceremony.


Following the incident, police and other officials rushed to the scene and admitted the injured to Shahpura's community health centre, where they are being treated, while the deceased was taken for a postmortem, the report said further.
