Tamil Nadu Minister for Minorities Welfare and Non-Resident Tamils Welfare, Gingee KS Masthan, confirmed on Thursday that five Tamils were among those who died in the fire incident in Kuwait. The information was shared by Tamil associations based abroad.
Minister Masthan identified the victims as Rama Karuppan, Veerasamy Mariappan, Chinnadurai Krishnamurthy, Mohammed Sherif, and Richard. They hailed from the regions of Thanjavur, Ramanathapuram, and Peravurani in Tamil Nadu.
Addressing reporters, Masthan assured that, as per the directive of Chief Minister M K Stalin, all necessary steps are being taken to repatriate the bodies and ensure medical care for the injured. "The Embassy (in Kuwait) has said that official information (on victims) will be provided to the state government. We are continuously monitoring," he stated, as reported by PTI.
The devastating fire, which broke out early Wednesday in a building in Kuwait's Mangaf city, claimed the lives of 49 foreign workers, including around 40 Indians, and left 50 others injured.

NORKA was established by the state government in 1996 with an aim to address the concerns of non-resident Keralites both within India and abroad while fostering a sustainable partnership with them.
