BJP's Muraleedharan Urges Kerala Govt To Enforce New Law Against Illegal Migration: 'Disguised As Guest Workers...'

Speaking to reporters, Muraleedharan claimed that a significant number of illegal immigrants from Bangladesh are entering Kerala under the guise of guest workers.

Senior BJP leader V Muraleedharan has urged the Kerala government to strictly implement the newly passed Immigration and Foreigners Bill, 2025, to tackle the rising issue of illegal migration in the state.

Speaking to reporters, Muraleedharan claimed that a significant number of illegal immigrants from Bangladesh are entering Kerala under the guise of guest workers, as per a report on PTI. He stressed that the law should be enforced without fail to ensure public safety and peaceful living conditions.

The Immigration and Foreigners Bill, 2025, passed in the Lok Sabha on Thursday, was introduced by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who assured that while business, education, and investment-based migration would be welcomed, those posing security threats would face strict legal consequences.

Illegal Migration, Drug Trade Concerns

Muraleedharan further alleged that illegal migrants are actively involved in the state’s growing drug menace.

"Many of these individuals, disguised as guest workers, are linked to narcotics trade. To protect our youth and ensure security, the new law must be implemented effectively," he said, as per agency report.

He also criticised the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF), calling their stance on the issue disappointing. Citing a recent case, Muraleedharan claimed that when Bangladeshi nationals were arrested in Aluva, Kochi, a close associate of Leader of Opposition V D Satheesan attempted to defend them. The Congress's mandalam vice president was later arrested in the case.

"The new bill is a crucial step towards eradicating drug abuse and terrorism," he added, urging both the CPI(M) and the Congress not to undermine Kerala's fight against narcotics.

Allegations Against UDF On Financial Scandal

Taking aim at the UDF, Muraleedharan accused the Congress of attempting to shield Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his daughter in an illegal financial transaction case.

Referring to the Kerala High Court’s recent verdict, which dismissed a plea seeking a probe into alleged transactions between Vijayan’s daughter's defunct IT firm and a private mining company, he claimed this was evidence of the Congress's "cooperative stance" with the ruling CPI(M).
