Chennai: The Kozhikode police in Kerala registered a case against India's golden girl PT Usha and six others members of a construction company based on the complaint by another former athlete Jemma Joseph under charges of cheating and dishonesty. The complainant Jemma gave a complaint with the allegation that she paid a sum for the construction of a home but still the house was not completed within the promised time. 


According to a report on IANS, Jemma gave a complaint to Vellayil police who forwarded the complaint to Kozhikode Police Chief AV George for a detailed probe. The complainant also moved Kerala Real Estate Regulatory Authority to solve the issue.

In the complaint, Jemma said that she paid Rs 46 lakh to Usha for an apartment and was promised that the construction will be completed within the given time. However, the apartment was not ready nor did the construction company was ready to give back the money. 


When the complainant confronted the builders, the firm said PT Usha was accountable for paying back the sum but the former national athlete did not give back the money.

Hence, the police have filed a case under Section 420 (cheating and dishonesty) under the Indian Penal Code on Friday and said the probe will be initiated soon. The action was taken based on the Kerala Real Estate Regulatory Authority that keeps tab on the builders.
