Chennai: The Kerala police arrested the driver, who was driving the car on November 1 that led to the death of Miss Kerala 2019 and Miss South India 2021 Ansi Kabeer and Miss Kerala Runner-Up 2019 Anjana Shajan. Abdul Rahman, 25, was arrested as he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the mishap. The police arrested Abdul, who was also the friend of the four others traveling along with him in the car, on Monday under the provision of the Motor Vehicle Act and IPC.


According to a report on PTI, the police said, Rahman escaped with minor injuries since he was wearing a seat belt and the airbag came to his rescue. Yet, the police also sent his blood samples for testing and found that he was under the influence of alcohol. 


The police booked a case against him under Section 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act and Section 304 of IPC.

Meanwhile, a third person who was traveling along with the trio in the car died on Sunday. The deceased Mohammed Ashiq (25) of Thrissur, was undergoing treatment in ICU, as he suffered multiple fractures and head injury in the accident, said a report on The Hindu. 


The mishap that took place in the wee hours of November 1 claimed the lives of Miss South India 2021 Ansi Kabeer and Miss Kerala runner-up 2019 Anjana Shajan. The mishap took place while the four members were traveling to Thrissur from Kochi and the police also suspected the accident was due to overspeeding.
