'CM Himself Is Accused': BJP-JD(S) Intensify Calls For Siddaramaiah Ouster As 'Mysuru Chalo' March Enters Day 4

The controversy started over alleged allotment of sites to Parvathi Siddaramaiah in an upscale area of Mysuru with higher property value compared to the location of her original land acquired by MUDA.

BJP and JD(S), the combined opposition parties in Karnataka, continued their protest march on Tuesday demanding the resignation of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah over the alleged Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) site allotment 'scam.' The parties are carrying out week-long Bengaluru-Mysuru padayatre (foot march) aimed at highlighting the alleged fraudulent allocation of sites to land losers by MUDA, including to Siddaramaiah's wife, Parvathi.

On the fourth day of the 'Mysuru Chalo' protest, the march began at Nidaghatta and covered 20 km to reach Mandya. Leading the protest were BJP State President and MLA B Y Vijayendra, former Deputy Chief Minister C N Ashwath Narayan, Deputy Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Arvind Bellad, along with several legislators, leaders, and workers from both parties. The protesters, holding BJP and JD(S) flags and placards, chanted slogans against Siddaramaiah and the Congress government, accompanied by drumbeats.

During the 'Mysuru chalo' padayatra of BJP and JDS, BJP President BY Vijayendra said, "Under the leadership of Siddaramaiah, the whole govt has become fully corrupt. CM's own name has come to light ST Development Corporation scam...in MUDA scam he himself is accused...so this is the state of affairs in Karnataka...Dalit community has been cheated by the state govt...we want (state) Home Minister and CM to resign..."

The route of the march was adorned with flags, buntings, and portraits of prominent leaders from both parties. The protest, which started on Saturday at Kengeri near Bengaluru, covered 16 km to reach Bidadi on the first day, 22 km to Kengal on the second day, and 20 km to Nidaghatta on the third day.

The controversy centers around the alleged allotment of compensatory sites to Parvathi Siddaramaiah in an upscale area of Mysuru, which reportedly had a higher property value compared to the location of her original land acquired by MUDA. Under the 50:50 ratio scheme, MUDA allotted 50 percent of developed land to land losers in exchange for undeveloped land acquired for forming residential layouts. BJP leaders have claimed that the MUDA 'scam' is worth between Rs 4,000 crore and Rs 5,000 crore.

In response to the allegations, the Congress government established a single-member inquiry commission on July 14, headed by former High Court Judge Justice P N Desai, to investigate the MUDA 'scam.'
