Former Karnataka minister and BJP MLA Munirathna was hit by an egg during a public event in Bengaluru on Wednesday. The incident took place while he was attending a programme to mark the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in Laggere, Lakshmidevi Nagar, located in the western part of the Bengaluru.
The MLA, who represents the R R Nagar constituency, was walking back to his car after attending the celebrations when he came under attack from miscreants. A video of the incident shows Munirathna walking with his associates and police personnel as an egg is hurled at his head. The video has also gone viral on social media sparking widespread controversy.

However, the BJP has accused Congress workers of orchestrating the attack but there has been no official confirmation made regarding the identities or affiliations of those involved.
The MLA soon accused Deputy CM DK Shivakumar and his brother DK Suresh of plotting the attack against him. He also claimed that it was an attempt to kill him and nearly 150 people were made to surround him in order to finish him, as per a report on Times of India.
Soon after the incident, Munirathna was taken to KC General Hospital in Malleshwaram after he complained of a burning sensation.
The Nandini Layout police have registered a case and detained three individuals in connection with the egg-throwing incident. However, the identities of the detained individuals have not yet been disclosed, and investigations are ongoing.
