Land Scam Case: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, who was questioned by the officials of Enforcement Directorate in a land scam case for more than 7 hours on Saturday, greeted people outside his residence in Ranchi. Addressing the gathering outside his residence, Soren took a veiled jibe at the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government at the Centre and said that it is hatching conspiracies and his government in Jharkhand is doing development in the state by shredding all the conspiracies to pieces. "It is time to put a final nail in their coffin," he said.

"They are hatching conspiracies...We are doing the state's development by shredding their conspiracies to pieces...It is time to put a final nail in their coffin...Don't worry...I will be grateful to you. Hemant Soren will always stand with the workers," Soren said after the officials of the probe agency left his residence after questioning.

Soren, 48, who is also the executive president of the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), had earlier skipped seven summonses by the probe agency, PTI reported. He finally gave his consent after the agency summoned him for the eighth time.

According to an official, the ED personnel reached Soren’s residence around 1 pm, PTI reported. Security personnel was deployed in large numbers at the spot to keep track of activities around the house. The measure came in the wake of the recent attack on ED officials in West Bengal during a raid pertaining to an alleged multi-crore ration distribution scam.

The Ranchi district administration has also imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC near Soren’s house, disallowing any demonstration, carrying weapons and public meetings. "The restrictions will be in place till 11 pm on Saturday,” Ranchi SDO Utkarsh Kumar told PTI.
