Upon seeing a girl drowning, an Indian Army soldier, Sepoy DN Krishnan jumped into the ferocious Bhakra Canal near Punjab's Patiala to rescue the teenager. PRO Defence Chandigarh tweeted the video showcasing the heroic incident. As per the PRO, the girl had fallen into the canal.

Netizens praised this act of bravery by saluting the army officer. One user said, "A soldier's never off duty for sure. Leaving a good precedent for upcoming soldiers". Another user compared DN Krishnan to Superman and wrote, "Real Life Superman, Our Indian Army Jawan."

Indian Army has never shied away from protecting its citizens be it on the frontlines or when rescuing people during any calamities. In 2020, a similar incident happened in Assam where some brave soldiers in the Barpeta district of lower Assam saved a woman from drowning in the fast-flowing, icy-cold Nausatra Nallah.

According to a statement released by Defence PRO, soldiers of a nearby post heard some noise coming from Patvaushi Bridge on the Nausatra Nallah. When two of the soldiers reached the spot, they took a quick decision and directed a Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO), a swimmer, to jump in and save the woman. After 30 metres of extremely fast-paced swimming, the officer finally reached the spot where the woman was. He then swam back with her towards the bank, reported East Mojo.

As per East Mojo, as the NCO got to the bank, the senior official in charge of the entire operation from the banks jumped in with a rope and bamboo sticks and helped the NCO in getting the woman to safety.
