New Delhi: A 22-year-old man working in a canteen at IIT Bombay was arrested under section 354c of IPC night after he was caught for allegedly peeping into the women's washroom in a hostel building on Sunday, said police as reported by news agency ANI.
“The canteen...was closed on Sunday for pest control work but workers were on the hostel premises during that time. The bathrooms in some wings of the hostel building have windows facing a platform-like area with pipes from the ground floor,” said IIT Bombay students in a statement as reported by Hindustan Times.
An IIT Bombay spokesperson said the alertness of hotel residents led to the employee’s arrest.

"An attempt to violate personal space of women residents of hostel was done by an employee of canteen, by climbing a pipe duct. Accused has been arrested & investigation underway by Mumbai police. We ensure their safety & security," said IIT Bombay.
“An FIR [First Information Report] has been registered and the accused has been arrested. Further questioning is underway,” said the police officer.
The incident came to light amid protests on the Chandigarh University campus in Mohali where the MMS of 60 girls had gone viral while taking a bath.
A massive protest broke out late Saturday at Chandigarh University in Punjab's Mohali after objectionable videos of girl students living in a hostel on the campus were allegedly leaked online. It was one of the girls living in the university hostel who allegedly shot the videos and sent them to a man who uploaded them on the internet. The incident allegedly involves the leaking of private videos of 60 girls from the university online.
