New Delhi: A Spanish woman, who was allegedly gang-raped in Jharkhand's Dumka district last week, said on Tuesday that she has no complaints against the people of India as she has safely travelled around 20,000 km across the country.
Speaking to reporters before departing for Nepal via Bihar with her husband on their motorcycles, she expressed her appreciation for the hospitality of the Indian people.
"People of India are nice. I don't blame the people, but I blame the criminals. People of India have treated me very well, and were very kind to me", PTI quoted her.
She said she would continue her world tour with her husband.
The 28-year-old Spanish woman was allegedly gang-raped at Kurumahat in Hansdiha police station area, around 300 km from state capital Ranchi, on Friday when she was spending the night in a tent along with her husband, police said.
The woman explained that they chose the place for their night stay as it was calm and beautiful, assuming it would be safe to stay there alone. She noted that she's been on the road for over six years, with the last six months spent traversing India, covering approximately 20,000 kilometers without encountering any issues, as per PTI.
Spanish Woman Advises Girls To Coach Themselves To Face Such Situations
"I have good memories from India", She said. She further added, "I want to tell some people, especially girls, to coach themselves to face such situations. I know it's hard and it's not easy."
"You don't forget, but you have to keep trying to leave it in the past", she said.

The Superintendent of Police, Pitamber Singh Kherwar, has mentioned that three individuals have already been apprehended, and efforts are ongoing to locate and arrest the remaining four suspects. The survivor's husband has expressed gratitude towards the police for their prompt response and action in the matter.
