A professor from Haryana's Hisar and his eight-year-old daughter were found dead in his office inside the university campus on Sunday evening, said the police according to a PTI report. 


The deceased was identified as  Sandeep Goyal (35) who was working in Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences in Hisar, the report added. 


As per the police, their throats were found to have been slit and their bodies were recovered from Goyal's office. The professor was being treated for depression, said a police official. 


Further investigation is underway into the matter. 






On Saturday, the body of a 42-year-old police officer was found on railway tracks in Maharashtra's Beed district and the preliminary probe inndicated that it was suicide. 


The deceased was identified as inspector Subhash Bhimrao Dudhal, attached to the Economic Offences Wing of Pune CID, as per an official from Government Railway Police (GRP), reported PTI.

The cop was suspected to have ended his life by jumping in front of a running train near the Parli Vaijnath railway station on Friday night. His body was found cut into two pieces, the GRP official added. 


A signed note recovered from his pocket, with a date and time, said he was committing suicide due to family issues.


As of now, the police has no clue about why Dudhal traveled to Parli, more than 300 km away from Pune. Further probe into the matter was underway, the GRP official said.
