A constable was stabbed to death in a fight that broke out between two groups in the Sirohi district of Rajasthan’s Jaipur. According to a PTI report, Constable Niranjan Singh, who was posted at Swarupganj Police Station was on duty Friday night at a Shivratri fair held in Lautana village.


During the fair, a scuffle broke out between two groups. When Singh attempted to intervene, he was fatally stabbed in the neck by someone, the report stated. The assailants fled the scene following the incident. The police told PTI that search operations were underway for the accused. 


Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot expressed his condolences over the tragic incident and demanded the arrest of the accused.


"Tribute to constable Niranjan Singh who laid down his life in Swarupganj of Sirohi while performing duty. Our sympathies are with his family in this hour of grief. The state government should arrest the murderers and ensure strictest action," he posted on X (formerly Twitter).


Singh's body was transferred to the mortuary of the district hospital for post-mortem examination, as per PTI.

Last year, a Delhi Police constable was stabbed with a knife in his chest and hand in the Adarsh Nagar area of Delhi, according to IANS. The incident occurred when he attempted to arrest a criminal linked to seven cases involving the Arms Act and robbery.


The incident took place after the police received specific information about an individual known as Ajay alias Ganja, who, along with his associates, was planning to commit a crime in the Wazirpur area.


According to IANS, they found the group behind a public toilet. When Constable Bhupender attempted to control Ajay, he attacked the cop with a knife, resulting in stab injuries to Bhupender's chest and right hand.
