New Delhi: The Gurugram police have booked at least a dozen people who are alleged to have attacked a mosque in a village of Gurugram. It is alleged that not only did they damage the mosque but also beat up the people who were offering Namaz, as reported by the news agency PTI. The incident reportedly took place in the Bhora Kalan area on Wednesday evening and an FIR has been registered against the miscreants but no arrests were reported till Thursday evening.


According to the FIR, some people stormed the local mosque and damaged it. The mob beat up the people and threatened to kill the worshippers. After beating, the accused fled after closing the gate. Police are now trying to identify the accused and nab them. At this time it is not clear what was the motive of the attackers and why they carried out this incident.


Subedar Najar Mohammad, the complainant at Bilaspur police station, said that in the evening when some people were offering namaz in the mosque, some people entered inside and beat them up. 


He also claimed that Muslims were threatened with leaving the area. The police have registered a case under IPC sections 295-A, 323, 506, 147 and 148. Police have also identified three accused namely Rajesh Chauhan alias Babu, Anil Bhadoria, and Sanjay Vyas.

“In the night again, when we were praying inside the prayer hall in the mosque, the mob came and assaulted the namazis and even locked the prayer hall. They also threatened to kill us,” the Subedar said in his complaint, according to police.


A police officer said that a case has been registered. Soon the accused involved in the incident will be identified and sent to jail.


“As per the complaint, an FIR has been registered and we are verifying the facts. Action will be taken as per the law,” said ASI Gajender Singh, the investigating officer.
