Gujarat Rains: Life in Gujarat came to an abrupt halt due to the devastating effects of heavy rains. Following intense rains on Tuesday, a bridge collapsed in the state's Surendranagar district. The 100-metre bridge was built across a pond close to Habiyasar village in the Chotila taluka.
An X handle named "Mumbai Rains" posted the horrifying footage of the bridge collapse. The caption reads, "Gujarat Bridge Collapse. Very, very dangerous. Stay far from riverside areas & bridges."

The bridge linked five villages in the district, according to an IANS report, which added that the incident had an impact on the day-to-day lives of the villagers. A devastating tragedy was averted since there was no one was on the bridge when it collapsed.
Heavy Rains In Gujarat
Gujarat, meanwhile, has been receiving a lot of rain over the past few days. Rain-related incidents have claimed the lives of at least seven people in various parts of the state. As rivers and dams water levels grew higher due to the constant rain, over 6,000 people had to be moved to safer locations.
Officials report that seven people died on Monday due to rain-related incidents. In Gandhinagar, Kheda, and Vadodara districts, there were four fatal wall collapse incidents; in the Anand district, two people drowned and one person died after falling onto a tree.
The state has so far received almost 100% of its average yearly rainfall, with south Gujarat, Kutch, and Saurashtra having received more than 100% of their average yearly rainfall this season, according to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC).
According to forecasts by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the state is expected to see heavy to very heavy rains until Thursday, with isolated instances of extremely heavy rainfall expected in most areas on Tuesday and heavy to very heavy rainfall in the Saurashtra-Kutch region on Wednesday and Thursday.
