Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel completed three years on the post on Thursday. An MLA from Ghatlodia assembly seat, Patel took oath on September 13, 2021, and was sworn in again following BJP's landslide victory in the 2022 assembly polls. As he completed three years, the Gujarat government, in a statement, enlisted the significant milestones achieved by the state under his tenure.
Under Patel's leadership, the state hosted G20 meetings and the 10th edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit.
In the statement, the government also stated eleven key policies and projects introduced by CM Patel in order to realise Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Viksit Bharat’ vision.
The 11 key policies launched under CM Patel’s tenure include Gujarat Atmanirbhar Policy, Gujarat Biotechnology Policy, New Gujarat IT/ITes Policy, Gujarat Sports Policy, Drone Policy, Gujarat Semiconductor Policy, Gujarat Renewable Energy Policy, Cinematic Tourism Policy, Student Start-up and Innovation Policy 2.0 (SSIP-2.0), Gujarat Procurement Policy, and Gujarat Green Hydrogen Policy.
According to the Startup Ranking by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Gujarat has been the best-performing state for four consecutive years. In order to empower the youth and to ensure their development the government established the ‘Kushalya The Skill University’. This government university provides essential skills to youth and offers nine advanced drone application courses, introduced in January 2024. It also received a ‘Type Certificate’ for manufacturing small-category drones.
On the agricultural front, the Dang district emerged as the first one in the state to achieve 100 percent natural farming. Around 58.79 lakh farmer families received ₹11,058.59 crore, which was directly transferred to the bank accounts under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. As per the statement, the budget for the animal husbandry sector has increased by 132% in the past three years and a power subsidy of ₹24,660 crore was provided to farmers.
The assistance under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana - Mukhyamantri Amrutam (PMJAY-MA) for citizens of Gujarat was increased from ₹5 lakh to ₹10 lakh. PM Modi also inaugurated AIIMS Rajkot, built at a cost of ₹1,195 crore. 188 new dialysis centres were added at the Taluka level under the Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Program (PMNDP). Besides this,150 new ambulances were added, 35 day-care chemotherapy centers established, and nine new medical colleges were opened in Gujarat in the last three years.
Bhupendra Patel introduced Vidya Samiksha to offer real-time insights into Gujarat's education system. Some other schemes launched to advance Gujarat's education sector include Shala Praveshotsav for smart classrooms, Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhna Yojana to provide financial assistance, and Namo Lakshmi to reduce dropout rates of female students.
"As part of the Mission Schools of Excellence, 97,187 smart classrooms were established at a cost of ₹874.68 crore, and 21,037 computer labs were created at a cost of ₹1,432.40 crore across the state," the statement noted.
