New Delhi: Gujarat on Wednesday has been declared as 100% Har Ghar Jal state, according to the tweet of Gujarat Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi.
Jal Jeevan Mission was started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2019, under which a target has been set to provide clean tap water to every household in rural India by 2024.
Under this mission, a budget of Rs 3.60 lakh crore has been estimated, in which the share of the central government is Rs 2.08 lakh crore. During the financial year 2021-22, the central government released an additional budget of 40 thousand crore rupees.
In March, the central government had told that it has released 60 thousand crore rupees during the financial year 2022-23 under the Jal Jeevan Mission, which shows the importance of the Har Ghar Jal Yojana.

Earlier, the government had told that despite the lockdown and other disruptions due to the Covid-19 pandemic, tap water has reached 2.06 lakh crore rural households.
According to the government, the role of women is most important in this scheme. Women are part of the water committee and surveillance committee. Till 31 March 2022, 4.78 lakh water committees have been formed.
There is a provision to fund the Jal Jeevan Mission jointly to the Central and State Governments, in which the Central Government will give 100% share in the Union Territories which do not have a Legislative Assembly, while in the Northeast and Himalayan States and Union Territories with Legislative Assembly, the share of the Center and the State will be 90: 10 and other states share 50:50.
Apart from this, the funding pattern for the activities of Support and Water Monitoring System is 90:10 between Himalayan and North Eastern states and 60:40 between other states.
