New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party said on Sunday that it will not join hands with the Mamata Banerjee led Trinamool Congress for the upcoming Goa Assembly elections, reported PTI. Party’s Goa desk in-charge Aatishi said, “The AAP is determined to provide a fresh alternative to Goa with good candidates and form an honest and corruption-free government.
In a tweet AAP MLA from Kalkaji Atishi tweeted, “I say with full responsibility that there will be no alliance with TMC. So, there is no question of any talks with them. We are determined to give Goa a fresh alternative with good candidates and form a honest corruption free government,”
Her tweet came in a response to a tweet by a West Bengal based writer, Soumyajit Majumdar. Quoting a media report, Majumdar said that AAP was looking to forge an alliance with the TMC in Goa and that the party was yet to decide on the proposal although both the parties held a round of discussion on the issue.
The Arvind Kejriwal led Aam Aadmi Party had contested the 2017 Goa State Legislative elections but did not win any seat.
Meanwhile the TMC has announced to contest on all the 40 seats of the Goa Constituent Assembly. The party recently tied up with the regional outfit of the coastal line, the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party.
The Congress party had emerged as the single largest party in the 2107 Goa Assembly elections but had failed to form the government. Later the Bharatiya Janata Party formed the government by forging alliance with some regional parties and independent candidates.
The coastal state is scheduled to go for next Assembly election in 2022.
