Former Maharashtra Speaker Haribhau Kisanrao Bagade To Take Oath As Rajasthan Governor Today

Haribhau Kisanrao Bagade will take over as Rajasthan's governor on July 31, succeeding Kalraj Mishra. He arrived in Jaipur and was warmly welcomed by top officials.

Kalraj Mishra's successor Haribhau Kisanrao Bagade will take the reins as Rajasthan's governor on Wednesday, July 31. His arrival in Jaipur on Tuesday was met with a warm welcome from top officials, including Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani and Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma.

As Bagade stepped off the plane, he was greeted by a contingent of senior administrative and police officers, including Deputy Chief Minister Premchand Bairwa, Chief Secretary Sudhansh Pant, and Director General of Police UR Sahoo. A Rajasthan Armed Constabulary battalion presented a ceremonial guard of honour.

Upon arriving at the Raj Bhavan, Bagade was treated to another guard of honour and a bouquet of flowers from his secretary, Gaurav Goyal. He then took a moment to offer his prayers at the Raj Rajeshwar temple, a serene oasis within the Raj Bhavan complex.

The former Maharashtra Speaker met with outgoing governor Kalraj Mishra, who reflected on his own tenure with a sense of nostalgia. Mishra spoke fondly of the trust and affection he received from the people of Rajasthan, which enabled him to implement various initiatives, including a choice-based system in state universities and regular evaluations of universities.

Mishra's legacy also includes the introduction of annual convocations to confer degrees to students, the adoption and development of villages, and accelerated development in tribal areas. As he bid farewell, Mishra expressed his gratitude for the love and affection he received during his five-year stint in Rajasthan.

Bagade will take the oath of office in a ceremony at the Raj Bhavan, administered by Rajasthan High Court Chief Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava.

Six Other States Get News Governors

Along with Rajasthan, six states got new governors on Tuesday and Wednesday. Two-time Mysuru MP and former Karnataka minister C H Vijayashankar was on Tuesday sworn in as the Governor of Meghalaya. Lakshman Prasad Acharya was on Tuesday sworn in as the 32nd governor of Assam. Ramen Deka took oath as Chhattisgarh Governor on Tuesday.

Santosh Kumar Gangwar was sworn in as Jharkhand Governor, while Gulab Chand Kataria took oath as the Punjab governor on Wednesday. Senior BJP leader Om Prakash Mathur, too, took oath as Sikkim's 16th Governor on Wednesday.
