BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad on Friday slammed Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over the death of a party worker in an alleged lathi charge during a protest. Prasad said that Nitish Kumar has adopted the methods of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee since he became friends with her. The former union minister said that BJP workers died in the stampede and manhandling and their limbs were broken.

"I condemn the attack on BJP workers in Bihar by Nitish Kumar's Police force...Nitish Kumar ever since you became friends with Mamata Banerjee you have adopted her methods...Our workers died in the stampede and manhandling. Their limbs were broken. What are they demanding? That Tejashwi Yadav, who is chargesheeted in a scam, be removed from his post...I condemn this...People will respond to you," he told the media.

Meanwhile, Bihar LoP and state BJP chief Samrat Choudhary said that Nitish Kumar wants to do 'Gundaraj' and "...can send us to jail or shoot & kill but the agitation will continue".

BJP workers held a protest outside Bihar Legislative Assembly on Friday and observed a black day after Vijay Singh, a party worker died on Thursday allegedly due to a lathi charge.

The district administration in Patna said the deceased, Vijay Kumar Singh, a resident of Jehanabad, was "found unconscious by the roadside,” PTI reported. "No injury marks have been found on his body," said the statement. The administration also added that Singh was taken to PMCH, the state's largest government hospital.

However, the death stoked a controversy, with the BJP training guns at the Bihar government over alleged police brutality.

Taking to Twitter, senior BJP leader and former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi said, “Arrested by Bihar police in Patna, Jehanabad dist GS Vijay Kumar Singh died in brutal police lathi charge.”

BJP president JP Nadda tweeted saying the lathi charge on BJP workers is a result of the failure and indignation of the state government. “The Grand Alliance government is attacking democracy to save the citadel of corruption. To save the person who has been charge-sheeted, the chief minister of Bihar has even forgotten his morality,” he wrote.
