New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the BJP government remarking that "illiterate people" are running the government at the Centre and requested voters not to elect those with 'fake degrees' next time.
Addressing a rally in poll-bound Rajasthan, he said as a kid, he had heard politicians saying that India would become a developed country in 20 years. He said he had also heard Prime Minister Narendra Modi's speech in which the latter said India would become a developed nation by 2047.
"How can we trust your talk? They (Centre) are telling lies. They do not know anything. Today, illiterate people are running the government at the Centre," Kejriwal said.
He further stated, "If there were literate people in the central government, they would not have brought demonetisation and farm laws. When you vote for the next time, do one thing, vote for literate people. Do not vote for those who are illiterate and have fake degrees." The Delhi chief minister further said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) feel offended because he is "literate, an engineer and was an IRS officer".
He hit out at the BJP and the Congress rule, saying both parties have looted Rajasthan and the country.
"Both the parties (Congress and BJP) are involved in corruption. During Vasundhara Raje's govt, Ashok Gehlot used to accuse them of corruption, today when Ashok Gehlot's govt came to power, Sachin Pilot kept asking him to arrest Vasundhara Raje but Ashok Gehlot said I will not arrest her, she is like my sister," he said while addressing the rally.
The Delhi CM also took a dig at his Rajasthan counterpart Ashok Gehlot and even blamed the ruling Congress party for trying to ruin AAP’s rallies.
"When we were coming here, we saw Gehlot Saheb has put up his posters all over Ganganagar and around this stadium. I want to tell him that if he had worked for the last 5 years, he would not have to do this. 15-20 people came here and they were throwing chairs, all this is an act of cowards. You (CM Gehlot) did not work for 5 years and this is the reason you are trying to ruin AAP rallies," he added.
He said he has plans to make India the top country in the world in 10 years.
Kejriwal also narrated the story of an illiterate king who ruined the entire country, thus emphasising the need to have a literate king to run the state of affairs.
