Former DMK spokesperson Sivaji Krishnamurthy on Sunday (June 18) was arrested by Kodungaiyur police after being expelled from the party. The arrest follows the filing of a case against him for making disparaging remarks about Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi and National Commission for Women (NCW) member Khushbu Sundar. The legal action against Krishnamurthy reflects a firm response to his controversial remarks, which drew widespread criticism and sparked outrage.

Krishnamurthy was expelled from the party for allegedly making remarks about Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Khushbu Sundar.

Amar Prasad Reddy, BJP State President for Sports and Skill Development, shared a video of Krishnamurthy disparaging Governor Ravi. Later, he filed a complaint with Tamil Nadu Police against the DMK spokesperson.

Sundar responded by criticising the DMK's handling of such behaviour, claiming that derogatory remarks about women frequently go unchallenged within the party. This expulsion comes after Krishnamurthy was suspended earlier this year for using abusive and derogatory language against Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi.

Krishnamoorthy, who was previously suspended for making disparaging remarks about Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi, sparked controversy once more. This time, he used derogatory language against the governor, accusing him of refusing to transfer DMK leader Senthil Balaji's portfolios to other ministers.

The ruling DMK suspended Krishnamoorthy in January of this year after the opposition demanded that he be removed from party posts due to his disparaging remarks about the governor. His suspension was lifted nearly five months later after he apologised for his remarks. Despite this, he is now under fire from the opposition for previous comments he made, including derogatory remarks about BJP leader Khushbu Sunder and Jayakumar.

Krishnamoorthy's remarks also referred to BJP leader Khushbu Sunder as an "old vessel." Furthermore, when discussing the arrest of Senthil Balaji, a former Tamil Nadu fisheries minister, he used obscene language. The opposition has condemned his remarks, emphasising his abusive and disrespectful language.

Reacting to the video, Amar Prasad Reddy tweeted, addressing CM Stalin, "Your man has again abused the Women's fraternity. I know you will not take action because abusing women is the DMK birthright." The video has sparked a fresh wave of criticism and calls for action against Krishnamoorthy, questioning the party's response to such behavior.
