Incessant rainfall has battered several states in India and Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh will have to brace for more showers with the India Meteorological Department sounding a 'red' alert in these states.
As per IMD, a depression formed over northwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining southwest Uttar Pradesh is slowly moving northwards and is likely to bring heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in various districts of UP, MP, and Uttarakhand.
Uttarakhand, Haryana, West and East UP, East and West MP, and East Rajasthan are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall with heavy to very heavy rainfall and extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places between September 13 and September 15.
Flash Flood Risk
The weather department also alerted various departments of central government including the Ministry of Home Affairs, National Disaster Management Authority, and Chief Secretaries of various states about flash flood risk.
Moderate to high flash flood risk has been sounded for Pauri Garhwal, Tehri Garhwal, Dehradun, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar, Almora, Nainital, Champawat, Chamoli, and Pithoragarh districts in Uttarakhand.
For UP, the alert has been issued for Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Philiphit, Jyotibaphule Nagar, Sambhal, Badaun, Bulandshahar, Aligarh, Kanshiram Nagar, Mahamayanagar, Etah, Auraiya, Etah, Shahjahanpur, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Etawah, Auraiya, Hamirpur, Jalaun, Jhansi, Kannauj, Kanpur Dehat, Hardoi, Kheeri, Sitapur, Lucknow, Unnao, Raibareli and Barabanki districts.
Chhatarpur, Damohand, Sagar, Agarmalwa, Ashoknagar, Bhind, Bhopal, Datia, Guna, Morena, Rajgarh, Sheopur, Shivpuri, Raisen, and Vidisha districts in MP are also under the risk of a flash flood.

Weather Forecast For Other States
Himachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha, Assam, and Arunachal Pradesh have been issued yellow alerts for Thursday and Friday.
For Delhi-NCR, an orange alert was sounded by the IMD on Thursday for very heavy rain, thunderstorms and lightning. On Saturday, heavy rain is expected to lash the national capital with the weather department issuing a yellow alert.
