A day after New Delhi received heavy rainfall leading to waterlogging and traffic snarls, heavy showers are likely to lash the city on Tuesday as well. The India Meteorological Department issued a yellow alert for Delhi on Tuesday with a forecast of heavy rain.
The IMD also sounded a yellow alert for West Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, West and East Rajasthan.
For the rest of the week, skies are predicted to remain clear in Delhi-NCR, Haryana, and Chandigarh.
East Uttar Pradesh is likely to have heavy rain on Friday with a 'yellow' alert with clear skies on the remaining days. Heavy rain is likely to occur on Tuesday and Wednesday in West Uttar Pradesh after which there is no warning.
Uttarakhand, West and East Rajasthan could see more rainfall this week as IMD predicted heavy rain till Saturday. Skies could remain clear in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh for the rest of the week, as per the weather department.
On Monday, heavy rain lashed parts of Delhi leading to waterlogging and traffic snarls. The Delhi police said that traffic was affected on both carriageways on National Highway-48 from Dhaula Kuan towards Mahipalpur and vice-versa due to waterlogging.
Traffic was also affected on Press Enclave Road on the carriageway from Saket Court towards Malviya Nagar due to waterlogging near the Hauz Rani red light.
Ring Road on the carriageway from DND towards the Moolchand underpass also witnessed traffic snarl, due to waterlogging, on both carriageways from Road No 13 towards Okhla Estate Road; both carriageways of the Outer Ring Road; Safdarjang towards Dhaula Kuan; and Badarpur towards Mehrauli, among others.
