Rain with strong winds lashed parts of Delhi on Saturday bringing respite from humid heat. As a result, the maximum temperature settled at 36.3 degrees Celsius, 1.4 notch above the season’s average, and the minimum temperature at 28.2 degrees Celsius, one notch above the season’s average, according to the India Meteorological Department. 


As per PTI, the commuters were advised to opt for alternative routes that are disturbed due to waterlogging and uprooting of trees which is reported in a few areas across Delhi. The weather department has forecast a generally cloudy sky with light rain on Sunday. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to settle around 36 and 29 degrees Celsius.






Humidity levels ranged from 97 per cent to 72 per cent as parts of Delhi, including central and south Delhi, experienced rainfall. By 5:30 pm, the PUSA observatory recorded 26.5 mm of rain.

Traffic on Anuvrat Marg in both directions was affected due to waterlogging near Qutub Minar Metro station, and commuters were advised to avoid the area and plan their journeys accordingly. Waterlogging also caused traffic diversions at Chatta Rail Chowk and Nigam Bodh Ghat, PTI reported.






In addition, traffic on Guru Ravi Das Marg in both directions was affected by the uprooting of a tree near Tank Road Chowk, leading commuters to avoid that stretch as well.


The Delhi Public Works Department received 27 complaints regarding waterlogging, while the Municipal Corporation Department received 10 complaints about waterlogging and five regarding uprooted trees, as per PTI.









Delhi Rains: Users Complain About Waterlogging


Giving cutting remarks, social media users on X posted images and videos of their respective areas aftermath of the heavy rain. One of the users wrote, "10 min of rain and drains are overflowing in CP. May be NDMC has shut the drains towards ITO."




Another user said, "Just 15 mins of Rain and all promises making Delhi Paris goes down."




The next one wrote, "After 30 minutes of rain in Delhi. @Uber_Indiaplease consider boats from next monsoon, almost missed my flight!"




Naraina Industries Association of Delhi wrote, "After today's rain, Girdhari Lal Marg in Naraina Industrial Area is heavily flooded. Footpaths are underwater, and the main road is reduced to a single lane. Urgent request for public safety measures and drainage improvements."










Meanwhile, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi was recorded in the "moderate" category with a reading of 128 at 6 pm, according to the Central Pollution Control Board. The AQI scale ranges from "good" (0-50), "satisfactory" (51-100), "moderate" (101-200), "poor" (201-300), "very poor" (301-400), to "severe" (401-500).
